Hangar 13 is developing a new mafia game

Hangar 13 has confirmed that they are developing a new title of Mafia . The news has arrived through statements by the director general of the study Roman Hladík , during an interview for his official website on the occasion of celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Mafia saga.

I am delighted to confirm that we have started working on a completely new mafia project! Hladík announced. There are still a few years and we cannot say anything else for the moment, but we are very excited to continue working in this dear series and entertain players with new stories.

It seems clear that for now they are in preproduction phases and there is still time to have official news. However, Kotaku already warned last May that Hangar 13 had a new development title whose code name would be Nero. What their familiar sources said with the plans was that it will be a prequel to the original trilogy and that will be done in Unreal Engine 5 unlike the Mafia 3 engine, which was also used in Mafia Trilogy.

A few weeks later, by the way, the same American media warned that the study had suffered a multitude of layoffs at the United Kingdom, California and the Czech Republic after the march of Haden Blackman, founder of the study, in addition to Matthew Urban.

While this news can generate doubts regarding their next developments, the 2K itself issued a statement at the time to call calm. «As part of our continuous evaluations to ensure that our resources are aligned with our objectives, we have made some changes that have resulted in a reduction of positions and in the separation of some colleagues. These decisions are always difficult, explained a spokesman. «We are doing everything possible to work with the affected employees to find new functions in other 2K projects and equipment, and we are providing all the support to those who cannot be relocated, putting them in contact with networks and resources of the sector to find new OPPORTUNITIES OUT OF 2K ».

With respect to the 20th anniversary interview with the saga, which has both Hladík himself and Tomáš Hřebíček, responsible for production and a half director, they have not released a garment with respect to novelties as they were treated in general as a more personal talk. In any case, here I leave the link again to the interview for the most enthusiastic followers of the franchise, and here is the trailer of the twentieth birthday of the series.
