The weapons techniques are one of the ways in which Horizon Forbidden West is based on the excellent combat mechanics of its predecessor, along with value arises. As its name suggests, weapons techniques are special movements that consume resistance of weapons, marked with a yellow bar in the lower right corner of the screen. They can make attacks more powerful or change the way a weapon works or affects an enemy. Arms unlocking techniques

Weapons techniques are unlocked by buying them with skill points of the six different skill trees.

These have a pentagonal shape and are labeled as weapons techniques when you pass the cursor over them, as shown in the previous screen capture.

Change of weapons techniques

To change your weapon technique, press and hold L1 to open the wheel of your weapon and select the weapon you want to use.

Before letting go L1, you should now see, just below the types of ammunition in the center of the wheel, a small icon menu between the left and right arrows of the D-PAD. Press left and right on the D-pad to travel the techniques you have unlocked for that weapon.

Use of weapons techniques in Horizon Forbidden West

• Select the weapon you want to use on the weapon wheel and make sure you have selected the weapon technique with left and right on the D-pad.

• Press L2 to aim and then press R1, instead of R2 to use your weapons technique.

• Note that this will exhaust the resistance of the weapon. The amount of which it will depend on the technique used. The resistance of the weapon is automatically replenished over time.
